BROADWAY COMES TO ERIE on Thursday, May 21, 2026, during the Erie City Mission’s second annual Broadway by the Bay fundraiser at the historic Warner Theatre.

Ivan Rutherford and Jackie Burns will perform a selection of Broadway hits featuring some of their best-known songs from “Les Misérables” and “Wicked.”

Ivan Rutherford performed the role of Jean Valjean in the “Les Misérables” over 2,300 times on Broadway and national tours. He was honored with the role during the 10th anniversary company in New York and was nominated for Best Actor for his portrayal of Valjean at the First Annual National Broadway Theater Awards. Some other favorite roles include the Caliph in “Kismet,” Tony in “West Side Story”, Lt. Joe Cable in “South Pacific,” and 2nd Officer Charles Lightoller in the Broadway production of “Titanic.”

Jackie Burns is Broadway’s longest running Elphaba in “Wicked.” Most recently Jackie led the cast of two world premieres: “Burlesque” in the UK and “Hard Road to Heaven” at Bucks County Playhouse. She starred as Celine Dion in the Off-Broadway smash, “Titanique.” Her Broadway/Tour credits include “If/Then” (Elizabeth), “Hair” (Tony Award Winning OBC), and “Rock of Ages” (original Off-Broadway company)
Funds raised through this event will help continue the 115-year ministry of the Erie City Mission, restoring hope to and transforming the lives of Erie's most vulnerable men, women, children, and families. This year's event will support the Erie City Mission's strategic plan to build a facility that will provide low-barrier shelter to women and children in crisis, with funds directly supporting our current women's addiction recovery programming.
