Opened in 1983, Tullio Arena accommodates tradeshows, conventions and meetings. It also stages concerts, ice shows, basketball, hockey, and circuses. Tullio Arena provides a multi-purpose facility in the heart of downtown Erie. It is also home to the OHL franchise team the Erie Otters.
Of the arena's 7,000 fully upholstered chairs, 5,500 are permanent "theater-style" seats. Part of the permanent seating can be made to fold away through electrically operated telescopic risers, turning the arena floor into 30,000 square feet of exhibition space. With capabilities for 200 standard 10' x 10' display booths the floor is suitable for trade shows and expositions. The arena can also provide up to 2,000 sit-down dinners through the in-house catering service.
Private meeting rooms are available in the upper level skyboxes. The meeting space can be reduced to 24' x 24' to accommodate five separate meetings or expanded to 24' x 160' for one large room. A conference room in the lower level can accommodate up to 50 for meetings or office space.
Load-in facilities include one door 14' x 24' and a loading dock door 10' x 10'. Trucks may back into the heated storage area to load into the arena. Two trucks may back into this space at once. The distance to the stage area from the load-in is 10'.
From September through April the concrete floor turns to ice. For concerts, basketball and trade shows during this period, the ice is covered with
synthetic, insulated floor panels.
